IN MEMORIAM
EVERETT MACMASTER
In 2010 we were saddened by the loss of a great friend, Everett MacMaster. Everett had been involved with the Charity Challenge since before it was even started and with the Maine Professional Drivers Association. Everett participated in the Charity Challenge every year that it has been held. He is pictured here receiving the Robert Deslauriers Volunteer Recognition Award in September 2009. He will be greatly missed by friends and family.
On July 24, 2010 we were saddened to learn
of the passing of Bill Pooler. Bill had been involved with the Charity
Challenge from its inception and volunteered for the Massachusetts
Professional Truck Drivers Association and the New Hampshire
Professional Drivers Association for the last few decades. Bill could
always be seen at the Charity Challenge with his wife Barbara and
driving around the course in his golf cart. Bill and Barbara Pooler were
previous recipients of the Volunteer Recognition Award, later renamed
the Robert Deslauriers Volunteer Recognition Award. He will be greatly
missed by friends and family.
BOB
DESLAURIERS
In February 2008 the trucking industry lost one of its top professionals
and true “Knight of the Highway”. Bob was a fixture at the Charity
Challenge since it’s inception in 1997. He was a seven time state
champion in the Massachusetts and Rhode Island Competitions. As a long
time member of the Massachusetts Professional Truck Drivers Association,
Bob either competed in or judged the numerous state and company
competitions over the past three decades. Bob worked for many years as a
driver at Sweetlife Foods, Northboro, MA and for the past several years
at Frito-Lay, Killington, CT. He was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam
War and resided in Woonsocket, RI. In
2008 the Volunteer Recognition Award
was renamed
the Bob Deslauriers Volunteer Recognition Award in his honor. He
will be greatly missed by friends and family.
